Jega Commends Zulum’s Groundbreaking Ranch Project in Borno

Professor Attahiru Jega, former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Co-Chair of the Presidential Livestock Reforms Committee, has lauded Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, for spearheading Nigeria’s first-ever integrated cattle ranch project.

Known as the Ngarannam Livestock Improvement and Ranch Settlement, the facility was constructed with federal government support and aims to boost economic development, enhance livelihoods, and generate employment opportunities in the region.

Jega commended Zulum’s vision, passion, and commitment to transforming livestock management, describing the project as a model for sustainable livestock development.

The ranch is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including:

Housing Estate: Complete with road networks, schools, health clinics, and veterinary services.

Dairy and Beef Upgrading Centres: Designed to advance livestock productivity.

Pasture Development Centres: Supporting sustainable grazing practices.

Milk Collection Centres: Benefiting local dairy farmers.

Earth Dams: Providing a steady water supply.

Markets: Stimulating local trade and economic activities.

Security Outposts: Ensuring safety within the settlement.

Governor Zulum emphasized that the project is part of his administration’s commitment to fostering sustainable development, promoting peaceful coexistence, and empowering the people of Borno State.
