Kaduna to launch $200 Million Mega Poultry Project, promising 350,000 jobs

Kaduna State is set to become a leading hub for modern agribusiness in Africa with the planned $200 million Mega Poultry Project, which is expected to generate over $450 million in annual revenue and create more than 350,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Governor Uba Sani announced the initiative during a meeting with the Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhar Maiha, on Thursday. The discussion focused on aligning federal and state efforts ahead of the project’s groundbreaking. The Governor also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for selecting Kaduna to host the initiative.

Governor Sani highlighted that the project will strengthen food security, empower smallholder farmers, and broaden the state’s agro-industrial base. He added that the partnership with Chinese investors is central to ensuring the project adopts advanced agricultural technologies.

The Governor had visited China in December 2025 at the invitation of the Government of the People’s Republic of China, touring CP Foods Layers and Eggs (Beijing) Ltd. He observed the company’s operations across production, processing, packaging, and distribution, which produce nearly three million eggs daily. He described the visit as a crucial step towards completing Kaduna’s landmark poultry project.

“With this initiative, we aim not only to increase poultry output but also to catalyse employment, deepen food security, and set a benchmark for technologically empowered agribusiness in Africa,” Governor Sani said.
