Nigerian coffee entrepreneurs visit Ethiopia for skills acquisition

A team of seven Nigerian coffee and tea entrepreneurs, led by Mrs Blessing Tangtur, CEO of Lingzhi Global Nig Limited and National President of the Coffee and Tea Association of Nigeria (COFTAN), has arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Africa’s coffee hub. Their mission is to acquire skills and knowledge to boost Nigeria’s coffee industry.

This visit is not a mere coffee or tea party, but a strategic move to take Nigeria’s coffee industry to the next level. The team aims to learn from Ethiopia’s best practices, given its reputation as the birthplace of Arabica coffee and a leading coffee producer in Africa.

Ethiopia’s coffee sector has recorded significant growth, with exports reaching $2.65 billion in the 2024–25 period. The nation’s success in coffee production can be attributed to its focus on quality, sustainability, and value addition.

The country has established the Coffee Training Centre (CTC) to enhance skills and knowledge in coffee processing, cupping, and grading. Nigeria can draw inspiration from this model to improve its own coffee industry.
