Gateway International Cargo Airport: A Game-Changer for Nigeria’s Agricultural Exports

The Gateway International Cargo Airport in Ogun State is now fully operational, and it’s poised to revolutionize Nigeria’s agricultural sector. With its strategic location near the Sagamu Interchange on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the airport offers easy access to major highways, reducing transportation costs and time for farmers and agro-processors. The airport’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, including a 4,000-meter long and 60-meter wide runway, makes it an ideal hub for agricultural exports.

The airport’s Special Agro-Processing Zone (SAPZ) is designed to attract businesses processing agricultural products for export, creating new opportunities for farmers and agro-processors. The airport will handle cargo flights, including two weekly cargo flights from London, opening up new export opportunities for Nigerian produce. The airport is expected to create around 25,000 jobs directly and indirectly, stimulating economic growth and improving food security.
