NAFDAC Sounds Alarm on Unregistered Edible Oils in Nigeria

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert warning Nigerians about the circulation of unregistered and substandard edible oil brands in the country. Brands such as FINO, PUR, OKI, SUPER DELICIEX, and LA JONIC are being smuggled into Nigeria and sold in major markets without proper safety evaluations or NAFDAC registration numbers.

Consuming these unregistered edible oils can lead to serious health issues, including cardiovascular diseases, liver damage, and toxic accumulation. The agency notes that these products often contain impurities and contaminants that can cause immediate and long-term health problems.

To avoid falling victim to these substandard products, NAFDAC urges consumers to be vigilant and check for NAFDAC registration numbers before purchasing edible oils. You can also report suspected substandard or unregistered edible oils to the nearest NAFDAC office
