Kidnapped Cocoa Farmers Rescued in Oyo State

The Oyo State Police Command has successfully rescued two cocoa farmers who were kidnapped by gunmen at the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) in Ibadan. The victims, representatives of the Cocoa Farmers Association of Nigeria, Ogun State chapter, were at the institute to submit their annual cocoa seedling collections for the 2026 planting season when they were abducted by six armed men .

According to eyewitness accounts, the gunmen suddenly emerged from a nearby bush and intercepted the farmers’ vehicle, leading to the abduction. However,
the security operatives have rescued the victims
Two male victims were rescued, and three suspects arrested in connection with the crime. The police are currently intensifying bush-combing operations to rescue the remaining victims and apprehend the fleeing perpetrators
