Aiming to tackle herders-farmers clashes and enhance security in Mopamuro Local Government Area, Hon. Ademola Bello Destiny has signed into law two critical bills passed by the Council Legislators. The bills, aimed at protecting agricultural activities and improving land management, are part of efforts to consolidate on recent gains in local governance and safety.

Key Highlights of the Bills

1. Mopamuro Agricultural Produce Protection and Herders Liability Bill

Grazing hours are restricted to 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with strict compliance expected.

Violations will attract a ₦1 million fine and a commensurate compensation to affected farmers.

This measure aims to minimize herders-farmers clashes by regulating grazing activities and ensuring accountability for damages.

2. Mopamuro Land Allocation and Management Bill

Landowners must maintain cleanliness of their properties to avoid revocation.

Periodic inspections will be conducted by the appropriate authorities to enforce compliance.

Bushy and undeveloped lands are deemed a nuisance and pose security and environmental threats to the community.

To ensure adherence, a task force has been set up to oversee the implementation of both bills.

Speaking after signing the bills into law, Hon. Ademola Bello assured residents that his administration would continue to prioritize their safety and well-being through lawful means. He praised the Legislative Council, led by Rt. Hon. Mercy Olupeka, for the swift passage of the executive bills, emphasizing their dedication to the development of Mopamuro.

“These laws are crucial steps toward safeguarding our people, boosting agricultural productivity, and ensuring a cleaner, safer environment,” the chairman stated.
