FOREST RESCUE: 12 KIDNAP VICTIMS FREED FROM EFECCHE FOREST IN ENUGU STATE

In a bold move, security operatives led by Dr. Akinbayo O. Olasoji, Commander of the Enugu State Forest Guard, rescued 12 kidnap victims from Efeche Forest in Ette, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State on March 6, 2026. The victims, comprising farmers and residents from Kogi and Enugu States, were freed during a coordinated operation involving the Police, Nigerian Army, Forest Guard, and Neighbourhood Watch.
The operation was launched following credible intelligence on the kidnapping gang’s activities. The suspects fled upon encountering the security team, abandoning their captives. In the process, two AK-47 rifles were recovered, and three suspects were arrested. They are currently assisting investigators, shedding light on the gang’s operations.
The rescued victims are receiving medical attention and are in stable condition. This successful operation underscores the power of inter-agency collaboration in tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes in Enugu State.
