Bridging Nigeria’s Farms to Dutch Innovation September 22–26, 2026

For decades, the story of Nigerian agriculture has been told in two words: potential and loss. We are blessed with some of the richest soil on the continent, millions of farmers who rise before dawn, and a domestic market of over 200 million people. Yet we watch an estimated 40% of our harvest disappear to poor storage, weak processing, and broken logistics. While we battle to feed ourselves, countries with less land and smaller populations export billions of dollars in food every year.

From 22nd to 26th September 2026 that story begins to change. AgricNews Digest will take Nigeria’s voice to the center of global agricultural innovation at the Agribusiness, Trade & Investment Mission to the Netherlands. We are not going as observers. We are going as storytellers, as dealmakers, and as the bridge that will connect Nigerian farmers to the technologies, markets, and investments that can finally transform what we grow into what the world buys.

The Invest in Africa Summit was born out of a simple frustration. For centuries, Africa and Europe have traded, but Africa has rarely traded on its own terms. The conversation was stuck on aid, grants, and goodwill. The Summit changed that. It was designed to move beyond conferences and communiques into real business, structured trade, technology transfer, and investment that creates jobs at home.

Since its launch, the Summit has delivered sector-specific missions that put African entrepreneurs directly in front of European capital, expertise, and buyers. The Agribusiness, Trade & Investment Mission to the Netherlands is the most strategic edition yet. The Netherlands was chosen with intent. It is the second largest agricultural exporter in the world, yet it is smaller than many Nigerian states. That achievement is not luck. It is the product of decades of investment in greenhouse systems, precision agriculture, cold chain logistics, and export compliance that meets the highest global standards.

For five days in September, African agribusiness leaders will sit with Dutch investors, technology firms, and off-takers in structured B2B sessions, farm tours, and matchmaking events. This is not networking for its own sake. It is where policy meets profit, and where African production finally meets European market demand.

The Dutch agricultural model is proof that land size does not determine food power. They turned limited space into unlimited output by mastering controlled environment farming. They built a cold chain that moves fresh produce from farm to supermarket in under 24 hours. They created certification and packaging systems that allow even smallholder farmers to export into the European Union with confidence.

Nigeria faces the opposite reality, and that is where the opportunity lies. We have abundant land, favorable climate, and year-round growing seasons. What we lack are the systems that turn harvest into revenue. We lack processing plants that add value. We lack storage that reduces waste. We lack the market linkages and standards that open export doors.

This mission is the bridge. It puts Nigerian leaders in the same rooms with the people who built the Dutch system. It is not about copying their model wholesale. It is about adapting it. It is about bringing greenhouse technology to Kano, cold storage to Benue, and export protocols to Lagos. It is about turning what we produce in abundance into products that meet global demand.

AgricNews Digest is Nigeria’s foremost digital media and information platform focused on agriculture, agribusiness, and rural development. Every day we inform and connect more than 100,000 farmers, processors, investors, policymakers, and development partners. We report on the Renewed Hope Agenda. We track LIFE-ND and NDCCITMA. We spotlight the cooperatives and companies creating jobs in rural communities.

But information alone is not enough to transform a sector. To move agriculture forward, we must connect producers to the people who can buy from them, invest in them, and teach them.

That is why the team of AgricNews Digest will represent Nigerian farmers in the Netherlands. Our mandate is clear and urgent. We will amplify Nigeria’s agribusiness story to a global audience through interviews, documentary coverage, and direct media engagement. The world needs to see who is growing our food, who is processing it, and who is ready to export it.

We will also facilitate real partnerships. The mission’s B2B meetings and official matchmaking cocktail exist for one reason: to close deals. We will use those platforms to connect Nigerian enterprises with Dutch capital, greenhouse and irrigation technology, processing equipment, and buyers who are actively seeking reliable African suppliers.

Equally important, we will bring home knowledge that works. We will walk through Dutch farms, logistics hubs, and processing facilities to learn how they cut post-harvest loss, meet EU export standards, and use data to triple yields. Every lesson will be documented and shared across our network to help Nigerian stakeholders adopt practices that increase productivity and profitability.

Finally, we will serve as a bridge for investment. Nigeria’s greatest gap is not production. It is in processing, cold storage, and export infrastructure. By building direct relationships with Dutch firms, we will attract investment into these critical areas. That means more factories, more jobs, and more Nigerian products on shelves in Europe and beyond.

This mission is not about Abuja or Amsterdam. It is about the tomato farmer in Benue who loses half her harvest because there is no cold room nearby. It is about the cassava processor in Ogun who cannot meet export packaging requirements. It is about the young agripreneur in Kaduna with a solid business plan but no access to capital or technology.

When we return, the impact will be tangible. We will return with new partnerships for equipment and technology transfer. We will return with export linkages for Nigerian produce. We will return with training content on best practices that we will distribute to our audience across all 36 states. We will return with investment leads for companies ready to build processing and logistics infrastructure.

This is how we move from importing food to exporting wealth. This is how we move from potential to productivity.
